Premier League to block illegal streams
|
Looks like the streams many of us watch are about to come to an end as the PL gets high court order to have them blocked.
Thats me fucked as my only alternative here in Oz as far as im aware is Optus, a pay TV channel that is shit, has outages and drop outs and has an obsession with certain clubs for live games.

I wouldn't worry too much. The PL have had these before and struggle to enforce them as this HC Order is unenforceable outside the UK.
Most of these streams take their feeds from the foreign transmissions / TV companies, i.e. log in early and you will see DirecTV logo on the feed, showing it is from the USA, or Craig Forrester makes an appearance as a pundit, that is Canada then etc.
If the PL were serious they would have to get the UK HC Order equivalent in every country that these stream companies operate from, then they have to track them down, then they have to enforce them... Aint gonna 'appen.

Plus you get nearly every major sports channel world wide and loads of UK tv channels for a quid a week.
I really don't see how Optus is a better option

Banjo, I have both Optus and sportsnation, and honestly not only is sportsnation a fraction of the price, but the stream quality is far superior.
Even the guy in the Optus shop, said to me they can't compete with the picture quality you get from Sky and the N. American networks, it's all about frame rate.
So why pay a lot more and under contract for an inferior product..oh and you get all the same content on sportsnation, it's a generic PL channel which shows in every country.

It's all white noise. Impossible to achieve as was the illegal download of music.
Sky et al, need to change their business model and make prices sensible, otherwise the longer technology advances, the more billions they will lose.

Sydders.
I subscribe to optus and I find it excellent. Better than Fox with much more content particularly from the UK. Give it a go mate, you will be pleasantly surprised.

This wont effect you over in Australia - the court order is to ban uk isp from connecting to the streams - which are hosted outside the UK, you should still have no problem accessing them in Australia.
Everyone in the UK just needs to connect using a proxy to get around the block!

The people who run sportsnation/mania have posted on twitter that they are aware of this and have ways to deal with it. Basically saying if anything was blocked they'd have it back up and running within 5 minutes.
They been running for near on 5yrs now so sounds all good. Have a look if your on twitter

Same thing just different servers, sportsmania had got quite full and had too many logins, so to keep it running efficiently closed subs.
Just shows they're not greedy and want to make sure people get good streams

Is that the Matrix TV Browser app?
Trying to find the Sportsnation FB page too, and it seems to be pretty well hidden?

Jonah..It isn't in the play store, you can only download from their facebook page, you have to get a sub first before they'll let you join the group.
Though you can also stream through the Matrix app, which you can get from playstore. You just add sportnation as a server then log in.
